ARTS ALIVE! began as a rehearsal and creative space in 1987 in a small storefront on 22nd off of 7th Ave in Ybor City, the Latin and at the time, also the artist community in Tampa, Florida. Well, that didn't work out so well since the bands started helping themselves to the space and its contents, At first, it was not, and it was never intended to become a punk rock venue. It became a punk venue on the ground floor of the third location on 8th Avenue at the old Olive Plant in 1988.
Slap of Realty was a regular feature at ARTS ALIVE! and it has been preserved on VHS tape since this performance. Now after all these years,

After the closure of Arts Alive! in Ybor City by Tampa Police and the Fire Marshal after the GG Allin show, Arts Alive! moved to an unused structure on a horse farm in Pinellas Park that was owned by an Arts Aliver named Jenny.
Jenny and singer, guitarist and poet Mike Moore aka The Hectic Eclectic, was more determined to keep it going than I was and he orchestrated this move. I don't know how long it continued as I moved to New York soon thereafter .
I had heard from rockapella poet, Norman B that sadly, Mike had passed away.I don't know when or how.
RIP Mike
